HEALTH AND SAFETY IN NORTH CYPRUS
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Travel abroad is about experiencing a different way of life, this extends however
to all areas of a holiday. The safety and hygiene standards we are
used to in the UK are amongst the highest in the world. Developing
holiday resorts do not meet those same high standards. Your health
and safety whilst on holiday with us is our absolute priority and
we would ask you to take the time to read the information.
Fire safety:
Each country has its own regulations and procedures, these are
invariably not to the UK’s exacting standards. Please take
the time to familiarise yourself with your accommodation and plan
how you and your party would leave the hotel or apartment in the
unlikely event of fire.
Balcony and glass safety:
Please make sure that young children are not left unsupervised
on balconies. Keep furniture away from balconies and never sit on
or lean over the balcony rail. Exercise caution when walking through
patio or other glass doors, in bright light it can be difficult
to see if they are open or shut.
Pool safety:
There is no legal requirement for the presence of lifeguards and
so we would ask you to carefully supervise children when they are
using the pool. Check for yourself the depths of the pool and make
sure you know what hours the pool is in operation. Do not let children
run around the pool area and do not permit jumping or diving into
pools.
Lifts:
Children should never be allowed to enter a lift unaccompanied.
In the event of fire, lifts should not be used.
Bathrooms:
Please exercise caution when entering and exiting the bathroom
and/or shower. The floor may be wet and you take care to avoid slipping.
Marble floors:
When wet these can be slippery so please take extra care when
walking on this type of flooring. Please do not walk on floors with
wet feet as you may inadvertently endanger fellow guests.
 Personal
Safety:
It’s tempting but don’t drink too much alcohol. It
can fuel tension, especially in the heat when dehydration can be
a real concern. If you are being harassed by local people or another
holiday maker please inform your rep or the local police. Never
let anyone into your room/apartment. Always make sure you have some
cash on you in case of emergencies and never hitch a ride. Cover
holiday safety with your children. Do they know the name of your
hotel?
Valuables:
We enjoy a low crime rate in North Cyprus however we strongly
advise that you keep all valuables in the hotel safe/safety deposit
boxes. Make a note of the numbers on Traveller’s Cheques.
Only take out what you need for that day and do not carry large
amounts of cash. Never leave your bag unattended. Never leave your
valuables in a car.
